Bare Beans Featured in Imbibe Magazine!

I am completely amazed that our little fledgling and barely surviving business has gotten such incredible support from both local (THANK YOU New Haven Advocate!) and now the NY Times and Imbibe Magazine, a magazine dedicated to all beverages- tea, coffee, beer, wine and spirits. - Ethiopian Yirgacheffe- Negele Gorbitu Cooperative: nice balance
of lively acidity & body with currant, cranberry & lime zest flavors noted throughout the cup light roast. Our lightest roasted coffee! $14.00 per lb, $7.50 ½ lb

- Guatemala Nahuala: Rich with lively acidity, spice and just a hint of chocolate and a creamy body. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

- Peru La Florida: Smooth, mild with floral and spicy tones, a creamy body and rounded acidity. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

-Nicaragua Selva Negra Estate (Direct Trade; not fair trade): Our very first farm direct coffee! A phenomenal farm in Nicaragua that maintains the highest sustainable farming techniques while providing a high standard of living for all the farm workers. A portion of the sales of this coffee ($1.00 per 1 lb bag) will go directly back to the Kuhl family to provide further education for the children of the farm workers. The coffee has a nice acidity and well rounded body with herbal notes in the cup. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb


- On a Lighter Note Blend: our medium/light roast blend highlights the floral, herbal & fruit notes that are lost in a darker roast. Give this one a try

Medium Roasts:


- Bolivia Colonial Caranavi: nice acidity & body, with spice and fruit notes in the finish. Medium (city) roast. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

- Dominican Republic Barahona: The Barahona region is known for its fabulous coffees, low in acidity with a smooth full body, creamy with a hint of chocolate. This is similar to the best Jamaican coffees, and our favorite new coffee find. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

-Mexican El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve Shade Grown Sustainable Coffee: Lively fruit, nice acidity &, balanced cup. Shade grown at high altitudes in biosphere located in the Chiapas region. A truly special coffee. $13.00 per lb, $7.00 per ½ lb

-Ethiopian Harrar: The infamous coffee with the intense aroma and flavor of blueberries and blackberries. Another of our favorite coffees. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

- House Blend: a balanced blend of coffees from the Americas & Indonesia perfect to start off your day. A combination of light, medium and darker roasted coffees. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

-Holiday Blend: a harmonic balance of spice, berry in a medium roast. Available through December 31st. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

- Espresso Blend: a blend of rich, smooth and velvety beans with mild acidity and walnut flavors throughout the cup. Also great as a drip coffee.Medium city roast, Italian style. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb



Dark Roasts:


-El Salvador Monterey Peaberry (not fair trade): Monterey is a 100% Organic Bourbon with a sweet chocolate fragrance, exotic fruitiness, smooth body & sweet aftertaste. Available in a medium and a darker roast! $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

-Sumatra Gayo Mountain: a semi washed coffee with mild acidity and a grounded earthiness. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

-East Timor: full bodied, low acidity and smooth with hints chocolate. A dark roast without the hint of bitterness we’ve found in other darker roasts. Now offered as fair trade. $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb

- Dark Roast Blend: a mix of our best coffees that take on a dark roast to perfection, blended with a touch of our Ethiopian Harrar. Rich & full bodied with the lingering taste of chocolate covered berries Also great as a dark roast espresso! $12.50 per lb, $6.50 per ½ lb



DECAF COFFEES:



-Decaf Signature Blend: A mix of our water processed beans in a darker roast style with a nice body and smooth after taste. $13.00 per lb, $7.00 per ½ lb

November News


-New winter coffeehouse hours at 14 East Grand Ave: Starting Monday, 11.3 we will be open from 7am until 11am weekdays.
-New Crop Coffees: We've gotten in a new East Timor in that is Fair trade. It's a dark roast that is smooth without any bitterness. We've also perfected our new Dark Roast Blend, a rich bold mix with a nice body and a dark chocolate & berry finish. Also, a must try is the new crop of Guatemala Nahuala we've gotten in which has a creamy body similar to our Dominican Republic and has a nice rounded acidity. We're also LOVING our new Bolivian which has a tart cherry note that is luscious.

-Holiday Gift Boxes & Bags: Look for photos, and descriptions with pricing coming soon on my blog (http://culinarycoffeegeek.blogspot.com/ ) and website (www.barebeanscoffee.com). Included will be 4 packs of Davids Biscotti & Jake's Naturals Biscotti (we are LOVING his jingerbread and his lavender with candied lemon peel biscotti!! They are also available in store now). Also available in the gift packs are agasweet agave, dagoba chocolate bars and 4 ounce containers of teas from Serendipitea. Prices will range from $24 to $60 and can be tailored to meet your gift needs.

- Expanded food & beverage items: Vegan Heart Thrive energy bars are here and doing quite well. The apricot and cranberry are quite tasty and they are not your typical dry energy bar. They are full of flavor! Jake's Natural Granolas are in stock with the new ginger proving to be a hit. Stop in and have some with milk as a breakfast cereal.
Our Chai tea with vanilla and cinnamon agave is AMAZING and we also do it with peach! Organic Fair Trade Hot Chocolate is also yummy and can be mixed with our house blend for a mocha joe. We now have ginger lemon myrtle tea for the winter with honey as well as organic earl grey and lavender earl grey teas.

-October Cupping: Join us to celebrate Fair Trade Month Tuesday, October 21st from 7pm to 8pm. We'll cup several fair trade coffees and discuss the importance of fair trade in the coffee industry.

-Holiday Gift Packs and coffee of the month gifts!: These will be available for purchase in store or on our website, www.barebeanscoffee.com beginning in November. -Nicaragua Selva Negra Estate Organic Coffee is HERE! Our very first direct trade coffee from this amazing farm. $1.00 per lb goes into the college education fund for the children of the farmers workers. Selva Negra provides housing and primary education for their workers and children on the farm. A great place to visit! They have a sustainable hotel on the farm as well.

-September Coffee Cupping: Exploring the World of Decafs. Tuesday, September 9^th 7pm-8pm

We’ll explore the various methods of decaffeinating coffee including ethyl acetate, methyl chlorine and Swiss water & Mountain water processes. Organic and non organic coffees will be cupped.
